Hurricane Ida Relief Giveaway Second Weekend

Thrive 9 Community Center 3600 Desire Parkway, New Orleans, LA

The Urban League of Louisiana, along with Thrive New Orleans, Shell, ESSENCE, Convoy of Care, PepsiCo, the National Urban League, the National Urban League Young professionals, the Greater New Orleans Urban League Young Professionals and the Houston Area Urban League will provide a Hurricane Ida Relief Giveaway on Saturday, Sept. 25. Drive-ups and walk-ups are welcome. The giveaway will take place from 11am-3pm. Current COVID precautions will be followed. Items will be given away while supplies last including: non-perishable food items, water, baby formula, diapers, clothing, feminine products, cleaning supplies, and tarps. Marketing Your Business in the New Normal

Even with the world slowly opening back up, many small businesses are still struggling to successfully rebuild. This panel discussion, led by Courvoisier Curators and moderated by ULLA's CEI VP Klassi Duncan and National Urban League, will provide marketing strategies and social media guidance to help Black small business owners and entrepreneurs re-engage with their community and their customers post-COVID-19. As part of the session, Courvoisier will host a live pitch competition for pre-selected small business finalists. Attendees will be able to watch the pitch competition live and learn the ins-and-outs of successfully presenting a business plan to an esteemed judging panel made up of industry leaders. You must be 21 years or older to attend this session.

Deadline to Register for 2021 STRIVE Core Training Cohort 6

Urban League’s STRIVE CORE Training is an attitudinal and workplace readiness course designed to change an individual’s attitude towards authority, culture, and peers, enabling them to succeed in further skills training or education programs as well as the workplace. The training is conducted in a work-simulated fashion over a four-week period, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p. m. Upon successful completion and contingent upon the availability of funding, individuals are connected to Urban League’s Career Pathways Program to further equip them for success with in-demand industry-based skills training that will lead to an industry recognized credential.
