SUMMARY:Urban League of Louisiana Small and Emerging Business Development Program Roundtables
DESCRIPTION:The Small and Emerging Business Development (SEBD) Roundtables\, based on a shared value for peer-to-peer learning\, seek to help members grow in their business and personal capabilities through monthly roundtable meetings that adhere to PeerSpectives protocols and engage every member fully. \nThe purpose the SEBD Roundtables is to:\n-To develop the roundtable members’ abilities to make excellent decisions in the areas of their business and personal lives.\n-To develop roundtable members’ abilities to make progress in the areas of their lives that lead to exceptional growth—both personally and professionally. \nOur roundtable will use the language protocol as follows:\n-Speak from experience rather than give advice\n-Ask clarifying questions—no interrogation or “telling” others what to do\n-During experience share\, speak from experience \nThe program includes a commitment of 10 roundtable meetings between August 2021 and June 2022. 15-18 SEBD certified businesses will be accepted into the program. Sessions will take place online on Wednesdays\, 1:00pm-4:00pm. Sessions will be held on the following dates:\nWednesday\, August 25\, 2021\nWednesday\, September 29\, 2021\nWednesday\, October 27\, 2021\nWednesday\, November 17\, 2021\nWednesday\, January 26\, 2022\nWednesday\, February 23\, 2022\nWednesday\, March 30\, 2022\nWednesday\, April 27\, 2022\nWednesday\, May 25\, 2022\nWednesday\, June 22\, 2022 \nIn order to participate\, small business owners must be certified as a Small and Emerging Business. \nNot yet SEBD certified? SUMMARY:Becoming Bankable Series: Preparing to Access Capital
DESCRIPTION:Session 1: Understanding and Improving Your Personal Financial Position | Tuesday\, July 13 | 12:30p-2:30p \nDuring this workshop\, participants will learn what it means to become bankable and how the personal finances of the entrepreneur are connected to the business. This session includes a deep dive into the components of a personal financial statement and why it is such a critical part of the funding package for small businesses. \nAttendees will also examine the debt to income ratio versus the debt service coverage\, as well as\, one’s personal credit score versus the business’ credit score. This interactive session will also allow participants to begin the process of developing their own personal and business budgets to form the foundation of their financial statements. \nRegister for Session 1 here \nSession 2: Examining Your Business’ Financial State and Needs for Growth | Wednesday\, July 14 | 12:30p-2:30p \nDuring this session\, participants gain insights into how to get their business finances in order including ensuring that your balance sheet\, income statement\, and statement of cash flows are accurate. Attendees will receive tips on accounting systems\, banking\, equity needs and other important aspects of becoming bankable. \nParticipants will also learn how to examine the financial needs of their business\, how to convey funding needs through a strategic business plan\, and how to make the case for the estimated repayment plan. \nRegister for Session 2 here \nSession 3: Action Planning for Becoming Bankable and the Funding Package | Thursday\, July 15 | 12:30p-2:30p \nThe final session of the series will focus on assisting participants in developing a plan of action for improving their financial position over the next 6-12 months and provides participants with final guidance on developing a funding package. \nThis session will also cover best practices in finalizing a loan package\, obtaining support\, and how to prepare for follow up questions.
