New Orleans) September 12, 2019 – The Urban League of Louisiana’s Women’s Business Resource Center will  host its 3rd Annual Women in Construction Convening on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the New Orleans Jazz Market, 8:30a-3:00p. The event’s 2019 title sponsor is the Women’s Business Enterprise Council-South (WBEC South).
The Urban League of Louisiana is proud to provide a convening of this magnitude that will initiate targeted conversations that yield specific solutions and measurable outcomes for women in construction. This year’s theme is “The Power of Connectivity”. For networks to become powerful, they must be interconnected, and for women in construction across the state of Louisiana, this is no different. The level of connectivity within professional and personal networks is what creates diversity, innovation, and resilience.
“The Urban League of Louisiana is thrilled to once again support women in construction across Louisiana through this annual convening. We understand the power of collaboration and the sharing of best practices to move the industry forward,” said Judy Reese Morse, President and CEO of the Urban League of Louisiana. “We are also honored to have the Women’s Business Enterprise Council – South as this year’s title sponsor, which represents a natural alignment of the strategic priorities of both organizations, – the promotion and support of women-owned businesses.”
WBEC South is a Regional Partner Organization of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council serving Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Florida panhandle. The organization’s mission is to advance and enhance business opportunities between corporations and women-owned businesses through a reputable certification program, education and professional growth opportunities.
“As WBEC South celebrates its 25th anniversary of service to women entrepreneurs, we are thrilled to partner with the Urban League of Louisiana for this year’s convening”, said Phala K. Mire, President and CEO of WBEC South. “This event supports our goal to provide resources that address the challenges that women face in building and growing a business, especially those in construction and other male-dominated industries. Convening is a gateway to the meaningful connections, that over time, result in sustainable business opportunities.”
