Statement from Judy Reese Morse, President and CEO, Urban League of Louisiana:
We strongly urge all those investigating the recent church fires in the Acadiana region to leave no stone unturned in the quest for answers in this situation. It is deeply disturbing to see the surge in acts of hatred, especially in our churches, which for centuries have and remain today anchors in their communities and places of refuge for those they serve. The fires have taken down the buildings, but they cannot destroy the spirit of those who have lost their places of worship. We call on anyone who may have information related to these crimes to speak up. Those who are found to be responsible should be brought to swift justice.
